Course Information
Description The lab provides a hands-on learning experience for exploration of human system components and basic physiology. Systems to be studied include endocrine, cardiovascular, immune,
lymphatic, respiratory, digestive (including nutrition), urinary (including fluid and electrolyte balance), and reproductive (including human development and genetics).
Prerequisites The lab provides a hands-on learning experience for exploration of human system components and basic physiology. Corequisite(s): BIOL 2302. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 2301 and BIOL 2101
Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the general function of the endocrine system including, mechanisms of hormone action, regulation of hormone release, hormone actions, and endocrine glands, and endocrine disorders and treatments. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

2. Demonstrate an understanding of blood composition, blood functions, blood disorders, heart anatomy and function. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3) Measured by embedded questions, and/or assignments.

3. Demonstrates an understanding of the location of the major arteries and veins of the vascular system as well as the function of the circulatory system. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

4. Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy and functions of the structures of the GI system, the structure and GI functions of the liver, gall bladder, and pancreas, and the various metabolic and nutritional processes involved in digestion. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

5. Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy and functions of the structures of the respiratory, lymphatic, & renal systems. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

6. Demonstrate an understanding of the location and function(s) of the structures of the male and female reproductive structures. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

7. Demonstrate an understanding of reading material including relevant terminology. (PSLO alpha) Measured by pre-post test questions.

8. Demonstrate an ability to work effectively with fellow students to complete group assignments and/or cover assigned material. (PSLO 4) Measured by group assignments in the lab portion of the course.

Textbooks Lab: Both the APRevealed workbook and access code are required. Workbook to Accompany Anatomy & Physiology Revealed, VERSION 3.0 by Robert B. Broyles, Jr. McGraw Hill Higher Ed. ISBN 007-340-367-9 (This is for the workbook only). You will also need the access code for the APRevealed website VERSION 3.2. (To clarify -- the workbook for the online A&P2 lab is version 3.0 and the access code for the Anatomy & Physiology Revealed Website is version 3.2). The Version 3.0 of the workbook is NOT available from the LSCPA bookstore. If you don't have one from taking A&P1 lab online, then you will need to order one. They are available on Amazon.com or on textbooks.com (search by the ISBN number) The access code can also be purchased online directly from McGraw Hill on the Anatomy & Physiology Revealed Website. See instructions for purchasing the access code in the course information folder of the course website.

No grades are dropped when calculating averages.
Make-ups: No makeup exams are given and there are NO “re-takes” on any exam. Exams that are not taken during the scheduled availability period will be available with an incremental time penalty imposed.
Course Policies
Instructor Policies All lab assignments are completed using information in the textbook, in the lab assignment, and using the Anatomy & Physiology Revealed website. For the Anatomy & Physiology Revealed website for which you WILL NEED AN ACCESS CODE.
The homework assignments are to be completed and used by you to study for the lab exams. Homework assignments are not submitted.
Any questions regarding exam grades need to be emailed to me from your LSCPA email. I will respond via email. Exam grades are available to you on the course website immediately after completing exams. It is not possible to view your exam after completion unless you make arrangements with me to come to campus to view it.
Attendance Policy This is an online class. It is YOUR responsibility to have a RELIABLE computer AND Internet access for the duration of this course. Please note that while many of the course materials can be accessed using a cell phone and/or tablet device, there are many questions on the homework assignments that can only be accessed on a computer (desktop or laptop). In addition; EXAMS CAN ONLY BE TAKEN ON A LAPTOP OR DESKTOP COMPUTER. If your computer breaks for any reason during the semester, IT DOES NOT EXCUSE YOU FROM THE REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES OF THE COURSE. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure all assignments and exams are completed by their due date. Any assignments and/or exams not completed by the end of the availability date will receive a grade of "0" zero.
In this online class it is your responsibility to schedule your time so that you have adequate time to complete all assignments and master all material prior to the scheduled exams. There are no scheduled class "meeting times". If you have questions, you can come by during my office hours, or you can email me at anytime. You will need to schedule time to complete lecture and lab exams during their period of availability. You will be able to take an exam after the scheduled availability period, but there will be a time penalty imposed.
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
